FE4H brings together partners across institutions to address the critical role of food environments in shaping human and planetary health. Our mission is to advance science, practice, policy, and governance to respond effectively to food environment challenges, with attention to both external and personal domains of food environments towards improvement of health.

FE4H CoRE Highlights:

FE4H CoRE continues to work closely with young scholars through a range of activities aimed at building a strong and connected network of researchers focused on food environments and health equity. Key initiatives in 2025 include:

Updates on educational activities of FE4H CoRE

  • Internship,Uppsala University (Aug–Nov 2025): Uppsala University, hosted an intern from University of Zaghreb, Croatia, financed by Erasmus+ Mobility for Traineeship. Josipa Juričević supported proposal preparation and communication, including the development of the CoRE figure featured on our website: About us – The Guild-ARUA Cluster of Research Excellence Food Environment Actions for the Promotion of Health
  • Internship, Reformaten (Aug-Oct 2025): Reformaten, based in Stockholm, hosted two interns from the Master’s programme in Global Health at Uppsala university.
  • Teaching Collaboration:Mark Spires, University of Greenwich, Jeroen De Man and Tamryn Franks from university of Western Cape contributed to teaching in the Global Nutrition and Non-Communicable Diseases course module at UU on topics related to Food environments such as, framing and assessments of food environments and policy responses to the proliferation of ultra-processed foods.

These efforts align closely with the CoRE FE4H Action Plan (Years 1–3) to explore and strengthen opportunities for student exchanges.

Newly Funded Research (2025)

Youth Food power project (Matmakt) – Karolinska Institutet
Principal Investigator: Helle Mölsted Alvesson
Funded by Forte, this citizen science project focuses on adolescents (15–19 years) and explores how young people understand and seek to transform their food environments. FE4H partners contribute to the project.
